Valentina Candiani

I started studying classical dance in Venice, Italy when I was very young, then went on to explore other forms of dance such as jazz and contemporary.

I further trained as an aerialist, hand balancing and acro-balance contortionist with Ernesto Belley (ex artist and trainer of the Moscow State Circus) at his Acrobatic Club in Venice. With a professional background in arts and design, when I moved to London I started working as a cartoon animator in several projects and continued my career as graphic designer for magazines, then moved on to television graphics and web design. At the same time I developed a growing interest in Yoga and the desire to express my visual creativity in a more artistic way.

I left my job as a designer in 2001 and qualified as a Sivananda Yoga teacher, but my practice moved on to the more dynamic form of Ashtanga Yoga, which I studied and practiced directly with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois.

I practiced regularly at the Ashtanga Yoga Shala with Hamish Hendry, completing third series. I also participated to various workshops and intensive courses with David Williams, David Swenson and John Scott (2002-2005).

I started exploring other styles of yoga, while living in the US with my actor husband, where I studied with David Life and Sharon Gannon (Jivamukti) in New York as well as Los Angeles, where I practiced extensively Power Yoga and Flow Yoga with teachers as Shiva Rea, Brian Kest, Vinnie Marino, Annie Carpenter, Nancy Corcoran, and Erich Shiffmann, Ashtanga Yoga with Maty Ezraty and Chuck Miller, and Kundalini Yoga with Gurmukh Khalsa (2005-2006).

Back in London in 2006 I started practicing intensively with my teacher Edward Clark and performed worldwide with his “Tripsichore Yoga Theatre Company” (a Physical Theatre including dance, acrobatics and yoga) until 2012.

My teaching style is Power Vinyasa Flow, with strong emphasis on breath awareness. I also teach Ashtanga Yoga (primary and second series), Restorative, Yin Yoga and Tapasya Hot Yoga

I’m also a certified AntiGravity Yoga and Restorative AntiGravity Instructor.

I’m the founder and owner of Coco Yoga, Yoga and Aerial Yoga studio in London where I currently teach full time www.coco-yoga.co.uk as well as the owner and director of Aerialand, an aerial fitness, circus and creative space in London www.aerialand.com

I am a registered Crania-Sacral Therapy Practitioner (graduated in 2002 with Thomas Attlee at The College of Crania-Sacral Therapy), and a Nathuropathic Nutrition Practitioner, (graduated at the College of Natural Nutrition, with Barbara Wren in 2006)

Mark Colleano received the authorization to teach Ashtanga Yoga from Sri K. Patthabi Jois at the Ashtanga Yoga Institute, Mysore, India after practicing directly with him and Sharath Rangasway, regularly since 2000.

He started practicing Hatha Yoga in July 1975 at age 20, after being shown basic postures by a fellow actor, I then, continued to practice daily for 13 years. At this time I was an actor and had appeared in many prestigious productions with some great actors such as Rock Hudson in Hornets Nest', Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor's son in Divorce , and Omar Sharif in The Horsemen'.

Mark says: While living in Los Angeles in 1996, I began practicing Power Yoga and discovered Ashtanga Yoga. I worked with many teachers, such as Noah and Kimberly Williams, Erich Schiffman, David Life and Sharon Gannon, Gurumukh Khalsa, and David Swenson.
It is the connection with the great tradition and lineage of Ashtanga Yoga that I felt with Guruji and his authority that effected me so much and inspired me.

It is through a daily practice over many years that the transformation of the vital occurs and a real connection develops

Edward Clark is internationally recognised as a teacher of advanced yoga technique and philosophy. He is the creator of Tripsichore, the London-based yoga performance group that has delighted audiences around the world. He is a regular presenter and workshop leader at the prestigious Yoga Journal Conferences as well as a sought after teacher on various Teacher Training Programmes in the USA, the UK and Asia.

Edward says, "The concept of vinyasa as applied to yoga philosophy could either be considered very ancient or radically new. In either case, vinyasa seems to be one of the great contributions to yoga of this particular generation of yogis. VINYASA in our definition, is the evenly metered flow of movement, breath and thought resulting in a smooth, uninflected state of being. The vinyasa techniques are pursued to bring about clarity and stability to one’s thoughts and actions.
Most yoga discipline has worked on refining one’s self in the direction of greater stillness – an absence of movement in the mind and body. Superficially, vinyasa would seem to contradict this. However, the mental focus and physical technique needed to bring about continuous fluid
movement can also bring one to a "seat" of great stability and clarity. The stability is not only in the posture, but in the transition between postures – to the point where there is no distinction between movement and stillness
